SHARING INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT OUR TWELVE MONTHS.....
1.January:- The name January came from the Roman god ''Janus''. Janus will look into the past and future with his two faces. January has also another name ''wolf-month'' because of wolfs will go to the villages to prey this time.
2.February:- In ancient Rome, there were a religious festival called ''Lupercalia''. Two youngmen will smash the womens with the skins of goats whom they had no ability to become pregnant.The name of that skin was ''Februa'',from this the name February came.
3.March:- The name ''March'' came from the name ''Mars'', the god of war. Before Julius Caeser, the romans start a new year with March
4.April:- In Italy the flowers will be in this time. The roman word''Aprilis'' derived from the Latin word ''apero'', wich means 'open'. In English it became as April. There were no april fool day in Britain till the18th century.
5.May:-The latin word ''Maius''came from ''Maia'', the mother of god Hermis. This month has another name ''Thrimilice'' because, the cows will gave milk three times in this month.
6.June:- The word ''june'' derived from the godess 'Juno'. It is said that 'June' came from the word ''Junius'', wich is the name of Shakespeare's murder family.
7.July:- Mark Antony suggested to call 'Julius' for the month in which Julius Caeser born ,with respect to him. The month 'Julius' came after the death of Caeser. In English calendar it was 'Julie', then changed to 'July'
8.August:- The son in law of Julius Caeser(Octavian) wished to became famous as that of his uncle Caeser, his born was in September, but he changed it as Augustus'. The senate gave him augustus as the nick name and the month became Augustus,then turned to August.
9.September:- The Roman calendar was started from March, hence,September was the seventh month. ''Septem'' is the Latin word which means 'seven'.
10.October:- Before changing the calendar October was the 8th month.The Latin word ''Octo'' which means 'eight' became October.It has another name called ''Woed-Monath''or Weed-Month.
11.November:- The Romans decided to name their king Tiberius as November,but the king refused it by asking that 'what you do if there is eleven Caeser?' So that name given to a month. The word ''Novem'' means 'nine' in Latin. The Anglo Saxons were sacrificed the animals to their gods in this month. So this month has another name, which is ''Bolt-Monath'' (Sacrifice-Month).
12.December:- Before changing the calendar 'December' was the tenth month. The Latin word ''Decem'' means 'ten'. The Jesus Christ borned in this month, So this month also known as ''Bolt-Monath'' or Sacred-Month.
