Amazing win for Team India at Galle

Team India defeated Sri lanka by 304 runs in the First Test match of  Tri- test series at Galle today. Ashwin and Jadeja took three wickets each and Shami took two wickets , Sri lankans were all out at 245.Team India scored 600 in the first innings and 240/3 declared in the second innings and set a target of 550 before Sri lanka.

The first Test of four series till 2000 ended as stalemates while India lost each of the four opening games of a series since, three of those defeats coming in Galle. Galle is the 12th venue away from home for India and third in Sri Lanka where they have won multiple Tests.
304 The losing margin of 304 runs is the biggest for Sri Lanka in a Test match in terms of runs eclipsing the 301-run defeat against Pakistan at Colombo (PSS) in 1994. It was also India's biggest win in terms of runs in a Test outside India. The previous biggest win was by 279 runs against England in Leeds in 1986.

840 runs made by India is the highest for them in a Test against Sri Lanka, going past 838 they made in Ahmedabad in 2009. It was the second most by any team in a Galle Test after the home side's 905 against Bangladesh in 2013. Overall, it's the sixth highest match aggregate for India in a Test and highest ever in Sri Lanka.
550 The target of 550 set by India is the second highest set by them in a Test after 617 against New Zealand in Wellington in 2009. It is also the highest set by any team against Sri Lanka, beating 522 by Australia in Hobart in 1989. Overall, it's the fifth instance of them setting a target of 500 or more with a win-draw record of 3-2.

44 Innings taken by Kohli to register his tenth Test century while leading the side. Only Sunil Gavaskar has scored more Test hundreds as skipper of India in Test cricket - 11 from 74 innings. It was his sixth Test hundred away from home as captain which puts him of the top of list among Indian captains going past five by Mohammad Azharuddin.
